DAN First Aid and Oxygen Provider Courses
The Maritime Heritage Chapter of the Archaeological Society of Virginia plans to make the following courses available to its members. The DAN Prepared Diver course is available completely online at no cost and only requires the member to register by contacting Jim Tuite at mhc.dive.safety@ gmail.com; other courses will require “hands-on” classroom training to occur in conjunction with the organizations quarterly meetings and will require that prospective candidates complete an online e-learning course and pay a small fee to offset the Diving Alert Network’s (DAN) certification fee and contribute to operational equipment costs (to be use on MHC diving projects). The Emergency Oxygen Course requires that the candidate first complete BLS/CPR /First Aid Training, After registration, all course materials are available for download from DAN at no additional cost. The following DAN courses are available:
BASIC LIFE SUPPORT/CPR/FIRST AID
EMERGENCY OXYGEN FOR SCUBA DIVING INJURIES
FIRST AID FOR HAZARDOUS MARINE LIFE INJURIES
NEUROLOGICAL ASSESSMENT
DIVING EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PROVIDER (DEMP)
CPR HEALTH CARE PROVIDER WITH FIRST AID
DIVING FIRST AID FOR PROFESSIONAL DIVERS
