Maritime Heritage Chapter Spring Meeting

The ASV Maritime Heritage Chapter held its spring meeting during Saturday-Sunday, February 23-24, in the Collections Study Room at the Virginia Department of Historic Resources, Richmond, Va. On Saturday twenty-five attendees heard presentations on previous and current chapter projects and discussed preferences and goals for 2019 projects. It was announced that the chapter’s “Mid-Atlantic Logboat Registry” has been approved as an ASV project. In the afternoon, chapter member Dave Thompson conducted a training session on mapping sites using the direct survey measurement (DSM) system, and entering the data into Site Recorder 4, a specialized software developed for underwater archaeology. On Sunday, member Jim Tuite conducted a comprehensive DAN Basic Life Support: CPR and First Aid course, certifying seven members in time for the summer field season.
